Freya's Fourth Litter |

Freya gave birth to three kittens in the early hours of 23rd August. Mum and kittens came through the ordeal well. She had 2 girls and a boy. One girl was a tawny, whilst the other was a black-silver. The boy was a real surprise, a blue-silver with a 'classic' pattern rather than a spotted one! Sometimes known as 'Jungalas.' you can read a little bit about these unusual Ocicats on our 'Oci-Info' page (Scroll down to the bottom). The kittens were sired by Thickthorn Cuscus, a blue-silver male owned by Rosemary Caunter. We kept the Norse theme when naming the kittens. The boy was named Woden, an alternative name for Odin. The two girls were named Freki (ravenous) and Geri (greedy), who were Odin's wolves. The girls now live in Huddersfield with Phil and Johanna, whilst Woden moved to Liverpool to live with Carol. Here are a few pictures of them growing up... Here's Freya and the kittens a couple of days old. Woden's the kitten on the left, whilst his sisters snuggle up together.
During the first week the 3 kittens did well. They all more than doubled their birth weight. We were very pleased as it was the smallest litter we'd had. Here's a picture of the 3 of them aged 1 week.
Like most kittens, their eyes began to open between 1 and 2 weeks. They usually takes a couple of days to open fully. Here's a picture taken with their eyes almost, but not quite, fully open. A fist full of trouble!
The girls were given pet names. The Scandinavian theme continued with these, as they were named after the Abba girls Agnetha and Freda! Here's a picture of each of them aged between 3 and 4 weeks... The first one is Northsprite Woden, a blue Jungala boy...
*** Next is Northsprite Geri, a tawny girl...
*** Finally, little Northsprite Freki, a black silver...
*** Here's the three of them relaxing aged nearly seven weeks.
*** Here's a few photo's from when the kittens were about 10 weeks old: This is Northsprite Geri (Freda to her freinds). She has a lovely, warm colour, just like her Mum:
*** Next is Northsprite Freki (Agnetha to those who now her well). She has lovely, big spots.
*** And here's Northsprite Woden, our Jungala boy. He was such a beautiful, good natured kitten.
*** Finally, here's a photo of the 3 of them relaxing together:
